Emily Cliff

Assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sherbrooke.

I am a member of SAG (structures algébriques et géométriques). I'm interested in geometric representation theory, especially chiral and factorization algebras and 2-groups.

I completed my DPhil in 2015 at the University of Oxford. I was supervised by Kobi Kremnitzer, and supported by an NSERC post-graduate scholarship and by the Churchill Society of Edmonton. From 2015 to 2016, I was a junior research fellow in geometry and representation theory, also at the University of Oxford, supported by EPSRC, and then from 2016 to 2019 I was a J.L. Doob Research Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. My mentor was Tom Nevins. From 2019 to 2021 I was a lecturer at the University of Sydney and a member of Geordie Williamson's research group.

I have an MSc in mathematics from the University of Toronto, where I worked with Dror Bar-Natan and Joel Kamnitzer. Before that, I studied math and linguistics at the University of Alberta.
